The Role of the Ruler at of the Age of Absolutism

The Mongols had helped form Russia, and one of the most important "Muscovite Princes" was Ivan I. However, the real ruler during Unit 3 was Ivan III. He acquired the areas surrounding Moscow, which were very important. The type of ruler was the Tsar which was an absolute ruler. This type of rule enforced an aristocracy. The tsars viewed themselves as the only true and holy rulers, so they therefore felt they were entitled to not only rule the land but also Orthodox Christianity.
